New Projects

I have not deserted quilting, just so you know.  I am finishing a Presidential Pardon for my sister Darlene and a cute pumpkin table runner for my sister Jennifer and myself.  I am a little out of practice but I am trying to get back in the swing of things.

In the meantime . . . this is what I have been up to . . . . .   my bill paying job, at the moment . . . some are still for sale, some have sold.

A Little Finish

Here is the before and after for the Shabby Hutch.  Good bones on a piece makes everything easier.  Painting stationary panels top and bottom is a pain but the over all look is great.  Let me know what you think.  Be brave and just paint it.

I started with this

and ended up with this.

Interior color is Zen, Behr paint and primer all in one.

The Egg and Dart moulding is so beautiful on this hutch.

Original knobs painted black

The center drawer pull was broken so this was used in it's place.  The drawer opens fine with the two outer handles.

Pretty top door pulls with knob painted black.

I found a color I like better than the one shown here.  It is Glidden, Swiss Coffee, from Home Depot.

A Work in Progress

I started with this, dark beautiful china hutch with egg and dart molding.

I am working on this look.  Off white on the outside and Zen from Behr on the inside.  I love this Zen color and thought I might take a chance that someone else would love it too!  I will have this finished tonight and then it will be off to Main Street Antique Mall in Mesa, AZ tomorrow.  It is just beautiful.  Let me know what you think.

Not too Shabby

I just love the details in the legs of this table.  It is elegant and a wonderful shabby look.

I have sanded just a bit to give it a worn look.

I am really liking the fine accents found in this piece.  It was unusable as it was, stained and the veneer coming off.  It was unpainted, so I sanded lightly, wiped it off and began painting with an off white paint.  I tend to add to much paint when I paint but the finish is nice and I don't want paint chipping off each time you touch it.

The table is not blue, just a shadow.  It should have a leaf but one was not available.

This dresser cleaned up nicely and sold the next day.

The Chiffarobe sold yesterday and the new shabby table will take it's place in the booth.

I did not think I could paint furniture but it is easy and fun.  You just have to pay attention to what you are doing and have paint clothes.  I am getting better and better at this!!

A Before and After

This little chest of drawers just screamed fix me please.  It is now white with Fleur d' les knobs on each drawer.  I just sanded and painted 3 times and then applied a polyacrylic varnish.

This precious beauty started out special with hot pink and forest green applied everywhere.  I put Kilz on it, sanded, painted 3 times with gloss white, sanded between each layer, then put on 3 coats of varnish.  I spray painted the knobs for the white dresser black.  it is so fun to do this.  I loved the details when I first saw it.  There are 3 drawers behind the door in the center.

At last they are done

The last two steering wheel covers are finished and I thought I would give you a quick look at them.  The Ladybug one is my favorite so far.  Let me know if you would like a tutorial on how to make one.

Red and Black Quilt Tote

This rather large quilt tote got side tracked about a year ago and I finally decided that a finish was needed. It is roomy enough to haul your grandchildren around in or even a baby and the diaper bag. It easily holds two quilts for show and tell. There are 4 pockets on the inside. The two largest ones have large snaps. Two more on the outside with large snaps ot hold them shut as well.

I sure enjoyed making the twisted fabric flowers that are on each outside pocket. I put pearls on it to give a a bit of a shine. Another finish, I am off to a good start and my UFO pile is growing smaller . . . how is yours doing?

Vintage Tablecloth Projects 2

I made this key fob just for fun, the clasp swivels. It has yoyo's on both sides.


This Snap Purse has been stippled and a stiff pellon was used inbetween the lining and outside. This vintage tablecloth has gone a long way.


This Snap Purse was quilted around the flower design and a thin cotton batting was used between the lining and outside.

Bunny Quilt

This cute panel is now quilted and bound. I have two more like it to finish for Spring! It just makes you smile to look at it.

Rain on the Windows Quilt

Since I am taking no prisoners, this is some of the fat quarter pieces I had left when I finished my Bluework Quilt. I tried some different quilting with this one and it worked pretty well. This was a fun quilt to make with lots of variation in color with batiks and cottons mixed together.

I have enough left over to make a nice tote bag and of course a pincushion.
